Small Business Photography in Focus: Brand Imagery for Mother Your Way
A calm, confident, connected photoshoot at Inhale-Exhale Yoga Studio, Leeds.
Tessa and I first met at a mother and baby event near Bingley. Having struck up a conversation, Tessa joined my mailing list, and after seeing my autumn photography offer for small businesses, she got in touch to arrange a shoot for us to capture the essence of what she does at Mother Your Way. This was a gorgeous, calm shoot which mirrored Tessa’s approach beautifully. She wasn’t overly confident about having her photo taken at first, but as always I made it my mission to make everything feel as easy as possible and by the end of the day we were having a really good natter!
Mother Your Way offers evidence-based, inclusive and non-judgemental preparation for birth including hypnobirthing and pre and post-natal yoga practices. This is done both online and face to face at venues around West Yorkshire. For our shoot we worked at Inhale-Exhale, a small studio based in Guiseley, Leeds. Photographing here was an absolute joy - despite the rainy day outside, the light was plentiful, and the overcast day gave us a soft, diffused glow.
For her shoot, Tessa wanted me to photograph the essence of what she offers; education, support, and a few laughs along the way. I knew the photography would be used to support her website and social media channels, so between us we jumped on a call to work out a shot list and approach to make sure we got what was needed to give maximum return on investment while conveying the soft, peaceful feel of Mother Your Way. A couple of Tessa’s post-natal customers and their babies, coupled with the lovely, airy studio at Inhale-Exhale in Guiseley rounded off the plan nicely, giving us a fab (and cute!) canvas to work with.
We kept it relaxed, down to earth and straightforward, with gentle direction from me when required. The results speak for themselves, and Tessa now has a bespoke bank of imagery exclusive to her which she can call on at any time to tell the story of who she is, and what she does.
This is what strategic brand photography can do — it’s not just pictures, it’s visibility. And it’s not just generic imagery, it’s conveying the product or service that only you can provide in your own, unique way.
