In Focus: Event Photography for It Started With a Sloth (formerly Be the Future), Huddersfield.

On Saturday I headed over to Makers World in Huddersfield to photograph the TOGETHER immersive play experience.

Masterminded by Helen Hill, TOGETHER is a bespoke, world-first project offering immersive play experiences that inspire all ages to learn about the environment and take collaborative sustainable action.

TOGETHER has now toured museums, community organisations, schools, universities and cultural institutions during which time it has grown to include over 20 activities including interactive projections, augmented reality (AR) and a wide range of handmade games - all created using reclaimed, repurposed, recycled and refuse materials where possible.

I had photographed Helen before, as part of a personal project so it was great to catch up with her. She’s a whirlwind of creativity in multiple areas of ideas, sewing, illustrating, writing…and probably other things I’ve missed!

I have a feeling It Started with a Sloth is going places - so I may be namedropping one day!

As always, event photography presents a varied brief, often with what can be challenging light conditions, which is why it’s a good idea to have someone who knows their way around a camera on board.
