Photo Inspo: Five Christmas Photo Ideas to Take With Your Family this Year
You probably keep your child’s first day of school photos each year, and an annual picture of their birthday cakes, but do you remember to catch a similar shot each Christmas, while you have different generations all together? Here are five simple photo ideas to make new traditions with your family this Christmas.
Everybody around the tree on Christmas Eve (matching pyjamas optional)
Put the lights on and snuggle in for a group photo around the tree. Want to be in it? Most phones have a self-timer option now, which means you can prop up your phone, get a five second warning and dash to join your fam! Don’t forget the dog.
Christmas Morning Presents
Get the kids to pose with their ‘big’ present - not only will they be happy and excited, but it’ll be a reminder of what Santa brought each year, giving them a memory bank as they get older. Mums and dads - don’t shy out of the photographs - get the kids to take a photo of you too, if they’re able. And if you have sulky teenagers, make the most of their (hopefully) good mood on Christmas morning by making sure they get into the frame too.
Don’t forget Grandma and Grandad
Multi-generational photos become all the more precious as time passes. At some point throughout the day, remember to grab a photo with extended family - extra points if you take this photo with the same people in the same place every year, so you can see how people have grown and changed.
Around the Christmas dinner table
The turkey is out, the sprouts are done, crackers are laid - but before you tuck in, try and remember to get a picture around the table. As before, prop your phone up to make sure everyone can get in, set a timer, make sure someone leaves a space for you, and go, go, go.
Board game wars
Is Monopoly your weapon of choice? Or did the kids get new games for Christmas? Or is it time for some beer pong once the kids are in bed? Either way, go for an action shot by remembering to get a snap of the fun and games as they unfold. The expressions will be priceless and if your memory is a bit fuzzy the day after, you can remind yourself of what went down!!
